Wings Of Freedom Tour
For a Father Day gift we got my husband a flight on the Wings Of Freedom Tour. He took a flight on a B-17 flying fortress plane. He had so much fun flying on the plane. I enjoy watching a modern plane coming down on the runway next to the B-17 going up on the next runway with it guns showing. I wonder what the pliot thought. It was a great day for my husband. That all he could talk about the whole weekend. Go to the web address. www.cfdn.org

#27 more learning Web 2.0
I want to continue to learn but I don't know enough about the Web. There is so much out there. Every day more and more is added.

Lesson #26 What I think
I had so much fun doing K.C.L.S. Learning 2.0-27 Things. This was such a blast. Working 30 hours at the Library, keeping the Books for my husband's business and watching my 2 grandsons one day a week while my daughter-in-law is back in school, I didn't have the time to take the compute class I wanted to this year. Participating in Learning 2.0 was the next best thing.
My favorite exercises: Blogging
Blogliner
Google Doc
LibraryThing
What I like about these 4 exercises I can really use them in my day-to-day life.
What surprise me? How hard some of the web sites were to get into. How each web sites has its own language, different words for the same functions. How some of the staff member were able to do the exercise in different way but end at the same ending.
I was so glad for fellow staff members' help. Valerie as the main helper. We had a great time talking about each week's lesson, what lesson we were at and what we did to completed the lessons.
I wanted to go hear the speakers. It would be nice to have different places to go and have a satellite conference hookup or a vt of the speakers to take home to watch.
I think we need to continue this program. It is hard to keep up with the moving technologies. Library-relevant technologies is moving so fast without help, most of us can't keep up. having someone to pass on the information will help us with our patrons. Just to know the languages, helps us to keep on the same step with them or maybe one or two steps ahead.
I am so glad I participated. I am keeping my notes and I will keep most of my websites active. Working for the K.C.L.S. for about 20 years I have to say this was the most fun.
Thank You.

#22 Choose Your Own Adventure
This was fun. I enjoy looking at some of the websities out there. Like The Ontarlo Beer Hunter. Two other webpages: Activeallowance or Google Earth were good. I picked webware. It was easy to get in and it had a link that I could add to my Yahoo web page.
Google's labs
I had alot of fun looking at this page. The 3 web sities that readly caught my eye were Google Mars, Google suggest in Japanese & Google Reader. I went to a panel at a Sci Fic Convention about Mar. It is great to get caught up with what is going on now with Mars. I am starting to get hook on Japanese books, movies, ect. So I going enjoy going to this webpage. I did't look to hard at Google Reader but I going to have fun getting into that page.

Library 2.0
I read all the articles. They all made good points. Our way of doing collections will have to change. User needs will have alot to do with the tools we will use. But we will alway have people who love books. I myself have a hard time reading anything on the computer for a long time. I don't want a blackberry or a cell phone. Times do change and I will change with the time maybe two or three steps behind. Onto the new world of librarianship
Rollyo or Google Custom Search Engine
I found this lesson #18 to be very hard. I like the look of Rollyo & did not like Google. But Rollyo was very hard to get set up. Talking to my fellow staff member, they all like Google better. It was very easy to set up. I will kept Rollyo now that I have it set up. I am still learning to add to the site

Social Networking Sites
The question is: What do you think about Libraries taking part in social networking sites?
I think we need to be in on all the ways to get people in our libraries. There is so much going on in world. Libraries do not want to be left on the wayside. Reading is so much fun.
